Prime Minister Imran Khan accepted the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar to thwart the no-confidence motion and nominated PML-Q leader Pervez Elahi as Punjab Chief Minister.
Announcing this, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Farrukh Habib said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has resigned from his post. According to Farrukh Habib, after the decision was taken to give the Chief Ministership to Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Usman Bazdar has tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister to the Prime Minister.
Later, the PML-Q announced a formal declaration of alliance with the government. The statement said that the PML-Q delegation led by Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi called on Prime Minister Imran Khan.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he had accepted the resignation of Usman Bazdar and nominated him as the Chief Minister of Punjab on behalf of his party and congratulated him.
