After the explosion in Istanbul a week ago, on Saturday, Turkey launched airstrikes in various areas of northern Syria.

Both Ankara and Washington consider the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party a militant organization, but there is disagreement over the status of the two northern Kurdish organizations. Northern Kurdish organizations supported the US in operations against ISIS.
After the attack, Turkey's Defense Ministry posted a photo of a warship with the caption that the militant attacks were being accounted for.
Airstrikes were carried out in the strategic city of Kobani near the Turkish border.
Turkey had tried to occupy it earlier to create a 'safe zone' near northern Syria.
SDF spokesperson Farhad Shami tweeted that two villages inhabited by displaced people were targeted.
He further wrote that many people were killed and injured in this attack.
Media in Syria have reported that Turkey targeted the Syrian Democratic Forces in Kurdistan.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based organization, said that airstrikes also targeted Syrian army positions, killing at least 12 people, including SDF and Syrian army personnel.
The Observatory said Turkish warships carried out about 25 strikes in Aleppo, Raqqa and Haskawi.
