Catastrophic rains and landslides in India and Nepal have killed 116 people and left scores missing.
Authorities in Uttarakhand say 46 people have been killed and 11 missing in recent days, according to AFP.
In Uttarakhand, 30 of the dead were killed in the Nantal area on Tuesday when heavy rains caused by a crowd burst and several buildings collapsed due to landslides.
Five of the dead belonged to the same family, local officer Pradeep Jain told AFP.
Five people were killed in Almora district of Uttarakhand when a landslide caused rocks and mudslides on their house.
At least six people were killed Monday in two remote areas of the Himalayan state.
In the southern state of Kerala, Chief Minister Panarayi Vajin said the death toll had risen to 39.
The Indian Meteorological Department had issued a warning on Tuesday in which heavy rains were forecast.
The Meteorological Department said about 16 inches of rain fell in some areas on Monday, causing floods and landslides.
Authorities also announced the closure of schools and religious activities due to the rains.
Television footage and videos shared on social media show people walking knee-deep in the deep water near the lake, while water is seen coming out of the shore at Rishikesh in the Ganges.
In Ramgarh, more than 100 tourists were stranded in a hotel as water from the Kosi River reached residential areas.
In the last three days, floods and landslides caused by torrential rains across the country have killed 31 people and left 43 missing, said Hamkala Pandey, an official with the Disaster Management Division in Nepal.
"It is still raining in many places," he added. Data is being collected, and the death toll is expected to rise.
