Former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team.
The French news agency AFP quoted local Indian media as saying on Saturday that Rahul Dravid would take over after the T20 World Cup.
The Times of India quoted an Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) official as saying that the former 48-year-old Indian batsman would be given a two-year contract.
According to the report, "Paras Mahabare, a former player of Rahul Dravid's team, will be appointed as the bowling coach of the team."
Rahul Dravid, popularly known as 'Mr Dependable' and 'The Wall' among Indian cricket fans, was part of the Indian cricket team from 1996 to 2012.
He has played 164 Tests and 344 ODIs for India.
Royal Dravid is currently serving as the Director of the Indian Cricket Academy in the southern city of Bangalore.
He has also coached many young players in the national cricket team at the moment.
According to the Times of India, "Rahul Dravid will assume his responsibilities after the T20 World Cup and before the team's tour of New Zealand."
Ravi Shastri, the current coach of the Indian cricket team, has indicated that he will retire from his responsibilities after the T20 World Cup.
