In the first match of the three-match T20 International series in Dhaka, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by four wickets to take a one nil lead in the series.
Hassan Ali was declared the best player of the match for his excellent bowling spell.
In pursuit of the 128-run target in the match played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Friday, Pakistan had to bear the loss of four wickets at the outset. However, thanks to the partnership of Fakhr Zaman and Khushdal Shah, Pakistan successfully pursued the target.
In the last overs, Shadab Khan and Muhammad Nawaz batted aggressively. Shadab Khan scored 21 off 10 balls while Muhammad Nawaz scored 18 off eight balls.Mohammad Rizwan scored 11 runs and was bowled by Mustafizur Rehman while Babar Azam was bowled by Taskin after scoring eight runs. Haider Ali was LBW without scoring a run. Shoaib Malik was run out for zero.
The fifth batsman to be dismissed was Fakhr Zaman who scored 34 runs. Khushdal Shah also returned to the pavilion after scoring 34 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and elected to bat first and the team scored 127 for nine in the allotted 20 overs.
Mehdi Hassan of Bangladesh remained unbeaten on 30 runs.
For Pakistan, Hassan Ali took three wickets for 22 runs in four overs while Muhammad Wasim Jr. took two wickets for 24 runs in four overs.
Muhammad Wasim Jr. initially sent two Bangladeshi players to the pavilion. The first wicket fell to Mohammad Naeem who was dismissed by Hassan Ali. He could make only one run on three balls.The other player to be dismissed was Saif Hassan who was sent to the pavilion by Wasim Jr. He also managed to score one run. Najamul Hassan Shanto was then caught by Wasim Jr. on his own ball.
The fourth player to be dismissed was captain Mahmudullah who was bowled by Muhammad Nawaz. Afif Hussain scored 36 runs and was caught by Rizwan on Shadab's ball. Noorul Hassan scored 28 runs and was caught by the wicket keeper on the ball of Hassan Ali.
Shadab Khan bowled one wicket for 20 runs in four overs. Muhammad Nawaz took one wicket for 27 runs in four overs. Harris Rauf proved to be an expensive bowler. He gave away 33 runs in four overs.
Khushdal Shah, Haider Ali and Muhammad Nawaz have also been included in the Pakistan team. Other players include captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhr Zaman, Shoaib Malik, Shadab Khan, Hassan Ali and Haris Rauf.The Bangladesh team includes Muhammad Naeem, Saif Hassan, Najam Hussain Shanto, Mahmudullah, Afif Hussain, Noorul Hassan, Shariful Hassan, Taskin Ahmed, Aminul Islam, Mehdi Hassan and Mustafizur Rehman.
The Pakistan team will play three T20 matches and two Test matches during the tour of Bangladesh.
The second match of the T20 series will be played on November 20 and the third match on November 22 in Dhaka.
The Test series will start on November 26 with the Chittagong Test.
