The German state of Bavaria's health ministry has also confirmed two cases of Omekron, saying two people from South Africa entered through Munich airport and did not isolate themselves.

Italy's National Institutes of Health says a man from Mozambique in Milan has been identified as Omicron.

Health officials in Australia have stepped up testing after two people from South Africa were diagnosed with the corona virus.
Officials in the Netherlands say the 61 passengers who were diagnosed with the corona virus from South Africa this week may have had cases of Omekron.
