The United States will resume indirect talks with Iran in Vienna, but this time the United States is not more optimistic than last time.
The United States will have limited options to prevent Tehran from building a nuclear bomb if talks in Pune fail on Monday, according to AFP.It should be noted that former US President Donald Trump withdrew from this global deal in 2018 and re-imposed the sanctions on Iran which were lifted under the agreement.
In response, Iran repeatedly violated sanctions imposed on its nuclear program.
The nuclear deal was struck in 2015 by then-President Barack Obama, who was then Biden's vice president.
Joe Biden has said that "if Iran goes to the real terms, they will want to go back to the deal."
Indirect talks in Vienna will resume on Monday after a five-month suspension by Iran.
A US State Department spokesman said on Wednesday that "there is still room for reconciliation to be reached and acted upon."
However, Rob Miley, who is visiting the United States in Iran, said "Tehran's attitude is not conducive to negotiations."
Washington has accused Iran of slowing down and escalating its "radical" demands.
However, progress is still being made in Iran's efforts to build a nuclear weapon.
Rob Miley said that after the resumption of talks, the United States would not sit idly by if it became clear that Iran's only goal was to take time to build its own nuclear weapon.
"We need to look at other steps, including diplomatic efforts, to deal with Iran's nuclear ambitions."
One of the possible diplomatic options is an interim agreement.
