Pakistan's national airline (PIA) has become the first international airline to launch flights to the UAE state of Fujairah.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the first flight of the national airline carrying 168 passengers from Peshawar reached Fujairah on Thursday afternoon.At the Fujairah base, members of the state's royal family and other high-ranking officials welcomed PIA's flight and CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik, while a traditional welcome dance was also performed on the occasion.
"PIA flights have been launched at the special request of the Emir of Fujairah."
A spokesman for the national airline said PIA had thus become the first international airline to fly to the state of Fujairah.
"Immigration of all passengers will be completed within 15 minutes under special arrangements for PIA flights."
According to the spokesperson, "Special buses have also been arranged for PIA passengers which will provide free access to other cities."
