Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi found it costly to express emotions during the match. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Shaheen Afridi 15% of the match fee for holding the ball and throwing it towards the batsman.
The action against Shaheen Afridi is based on an incident that took place during the second T20 International played in Dhaka on Saturday.
The ICC says Shaheen Shah Afridi has been found guilty of violating Article 2.9 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Support Staff.Shaheen Afridi was not only fined but also added a negative point (de-merit point) to his record.
This is the first time in the last 24 months of Shaheen Afridi's international career that such an action has been taken against him.
It may be recalled that in the third over of the second T20 International match against Bangladesh, Shaheen Shah Afridi, after fielding the ball, threw it towards the Bangladeshi player Afif Hussain, who was on his feet. This action took place at a time when Afif Hussain was present in his crease.
Shaheen Afridi has admitted his mistake and accepted the sentence passed by Naeem Rashid, a member of the match refereeing panel, which has also been confirmed by the ICC Cricket Operations Department.
