The Indonesian Foreign Minister met with the Foreign Minister of Singapore to discuss the opening of a transit corridor for vaccinated people between the two neighboring countries.
According to Arab News, Singapore had earlier on Monday announced that it would pursue a "vaccinated travel lane scheme" with Indonesia, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Indonesia and Singapore had agreed to make arrangements and that further steps would be taken.The corridor for travel between Jakarta and Singapore will open on November 29.
After meeting with his counterpart, Indonesian Foreign Minister Ratbo Mersudi said, "Singapore's foreign minister conveyed the message that the corridor is based on trust, the improved status of Corona in Indonesia and the large number of vaccinated people."
The two Foreign Ministers also discussed the creation of a safe travel bubble on Buntan Island, just an hour's drive from Singapore.
Under this corridor of vaccinated people, two flights will be operated daily and later the number will increase to four.
Indonesia opened its borders to tourists from 19 countries on October 14, not including Singapore.
Singapore's foreign minister said he hoped Indonesia would soon open its border to Singapore.
