Australian spin king Nathan Lyon has said that the Australian bowlers want to see Tim Penn behind the stumps for the first Ashes Test against England because he is the "best keeper in the world".
According to AFP, Australian cricket team opener Marcus Harris also said that Tim Payne has the support of the Australian squad and Nathan Lyon also reiterated this.
It is to be noted that Tim Penn resigned as Test captain last week due to a text message scandal but he is keen to continue playing.In 2017, Tim Penn sent pornographic text messages to a female colleague who resigned after the leak.
With regard to Tim Penn, the selectors will have to decide whether to give him a chance to play again.
"The selectors have always said they would pick the best team and in my opinion Tim Penn is the best keeper in the world," said opener Marcus Harris. "I know I want them (to be part of the team)."
"Every bowler's relationship with (him) is extraordinary and Tim Penn is a very loving man and a very respectable man in the changing room."
Leon added that he could "guarantee 100 per cent that he (Penn) has the full support of the Australian team.""Tim has made a mistake, he has admitted it, he has shown me a lot of courage by being honest."
He was questioned at the time and cleared of any breach of the Code of Conduct for Cricket, but said he was stepping down as captain because his actions did not meet the standards set by the Australian cricket captain. ۔ '
