ripoli: A Libyan court has declared Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former ruler Muammar Gaddafi, eligible to run in the presidential election.
According to Al Arabiya, a local court in southern Libya on Thursday reinstated Muammar Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam Gaddafi as a candidate in next month's presidential election.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi had filed an appeal in the court on the first day last month against the rejection of the request by the Election Commission.
Referring to the election laws, the commission had said that in order to contest elections, candidates must not be convicted of any offense and their previous record should not be based on criminal offenses.
