According to the Traffic Police, visitors to the country are allowed to use the international driving license for one year. If they stay longer after the said period, they will have to get a local driving license.
According to Aajil News, a person from Twitter of Traffic Police discovered that visitors coming to Saudi Arabia from abroad with their country or international driving license can use it in the country for how long?
Responding to a question, the Traffic Police said that visitors on a visit visa who have an international or a driver's license from a country approved in Saudi Arabia can use it only in working condition, but up to one year after arrival in the kingdom. An international driving license can be used, but it must be valid.
Expire International driving license will not be accepted. The Traffic Police further said that the International Driving License should be issued from a formally approved body which is internationally certified.
It should be noted that several changes have been made in the traffic laws in Saudi Arabia, which have also been issued to the visitors to get a driver's license and a car rental facility.
