Government alliance and PDM leaders' announcement to go to the Supreme Court

Entertainment world Entertainment world July 24, 2022

It has been decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court on behalf of the government allies and all the parties involved in the PDM to form a full court. In the petition, a hearing will be requested for the election of the Chief Minister of Punjab and the interpretation of Article 63A.

According to the statement released by Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb on Sunday, the government ally and PDM parties Pakistan Muslim League (N), PPP, JUI (F) have jointly decided to form a full court. Will file a petition in the Supreme Court. And in this regard, the leaders of the government ally and PDM parties will make an important announcement in a joint press conference on Monday at 10:30 am.

According to the statement, the leaders of the coalition parties and PDM will go to the Supreme Court together with their lawyers. MQM, ANP, BNP, BAP and other coalition parties are also among the petitioners. The lawyers of all the parties will argue in the Supreme Court on Article 63A of the Constitution.

On the other hand, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar said in a press conference in Lahore that the sensitivity of the matter is such that it should be placed before the full court.

He said that there is still confusion after the party chief's instructions and the court ruling on the interpretation of Article 63A. "Two interpretations cannot be made in the same case."

The Law Minister said that it cannot be that there is one law for Imran Khan and another law for Shujaat Hussain.

In the voting for the election of Chief Minister in the Punjab Assembly on Friday, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi got 186 votes while Hamza Shehbaz got 179 votes. However, Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari rejected the votes of 10 members of the Muslim League-Q based on Chaudhry Shujaat's letter, after which the number of votes of Parvaiz Elahi became 176 and the number of votes of Hamza Shahbaz became 179.

After the votes of 10 members of Muslim League-Q were rejected, Hamza Shehbaz was declared successful with a margin of three votes, after which Tehreek-e-Insaf and Muslim League-Q approached the Supreme Court against the ruling of the Deputy Speaker.

It should be noted that while giving its opinion on the presidential reference sent for the interpretation of Article 63A, the Supreme Court declared that the votes of defecting members will not be counted due to which the votes of 25 defecting members received by Hamza Shehbaz have been deducted. After leaving, the Supreme Court had ordered a run-off election.

The Supreme Court Bar Association has filed a review petition against the Supreme Court's ruling regarding Article 63A as unconstitutional.

Regarding the interpretation of Article 63A, the two judges included in the bench also termed not including the votes of dissenting members in the counting as tantamount to rewriting the constitution.

Yesterday, after the three-member bench of the Supreme Court made Hamza Shahbaz the Trustee Chief Minister of Punjab, the aggressive attitude of the government parties, especially the Muslim League-N, is being seen.
