Dr. Yubing Hu from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London and colleagues have created an AI-powered brain sensor that can note four biomarkers at once. It uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to capture real-time data that helps doctors understand the state of the disease.
Another important thing is that its software can also predict malfunctions or improvements. It consists of a flexible silica optical fiber that maintains fluid in brain tissue. In this way temperature, oxygen, glucose and pressure etc. can be found inside the brain.
In the next step, it was tested on the brains of sheep that had suffered TBI. It also precisely defined different levels of TBI severity, an important development.
Despite all this, the destination of human trials is still a long way off.
