Health experts have been talking about the benefits of walking after meals for a long time. Now, recent research suggests that walking after a meal can help control sudden spikes in blood sugar, which can help prevent complications like type 2 diabetes.

In reality, it only takes two minutes to reap these benefits. According to new research, a two- to five-minute walk after a meal can significantly reduce blood sugar levels.
In a study published in the Sports Medicine Journal, researchers have reported that standing still can lower blood sugar, but not as much as walking.
Researchers found that a few minutes of low-intensity walking after a meal significantly improved blood sugar levels compared to being inactive. This improvement was more pronounced in participants who walked for shorter durations.
None of the participants in the five studies studied had prediabetes (known as prediabetes) or type 2 diabetes. While in the other two, both those with and without the disease were present.
