Negotiations aimed at restoring the 2015 nuclear deal ended in Vienna on Monday. The agreement was made by world powers to prevent Iran from pursuing a nuclear program in return for easing economic sanctions. But this deal ended in 2018 when US President Donald Trump announced his withdrawal from it and reimposed sanctions on Iran.
Britain, China, France, Germany, Iran and Russia, as well as the United States, indirectly resumed talks on the issue last week after a months-long hiatus.
Before the nuclear talks stalled in March this year, the European Union's integrated negotiations began in April 2021.
"What can be discussed has been discussed, and it is now in the final text," said Joseph Borrell, the EU's top foreign and security policy official.
"Behind every technical issue and every paragraph there is a political decision that needs to be taken in the capitals (Washington and Tehran)," he said.
However, significant challenges remain for a renewed agreement.
European officials urged Iran to drop its "unrealistic demands" that do not fall within the scope of the original deal, particularly the International Atomic Energy Agency's investigation into Iran's undeclared nuclear material. are related.
Iran's chief negotiator Ali Bagheri-Kani has returned to Tehran for political consultations, but the final decision will be made by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
On the other hand, the United States said that the new draft is the only and best source on which an agreement can be reached.
