"Vaccines save lives, but they do not completely stop the transmission of the disease," he said.
Statistics show that before the advent of the Delta type, vaccines reduced the spread of the epidemic by about 60%. That rate has dropped to about 40 percent since the advent of Delta.
"The type of fast-moving delta is now the most prevalent in the world," he said."If you are vaccinated, your risk of serious illness and death is greatly reduced, but you are still at risk of transmitting the virus and infecting others," added Tedros Adhanom.
"We cannot say for sure. Even if you have been vaccinated, take precautions so that you are not infected with the virus and do not infect anyone else who may die from it."
That means wearing a face mask, keeping a distance and avoiding crowds, and meeting outside or in an airy interior, he said.
According to Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the corona virus has infected more than 259.185 million people worldwide.
The Corona epidemic has so far killed more than 5.171 million people worldwide.
So far, more than 7,783,360,000 doses of the corona vaccine have been administered in the world.
