The Isa Brothers, one of Britain's richest men, have revealed plans to build Europe's largest Muslim cemetery on a large plot of land in northern England.
According to Arab News, Isa Memorial Gardens will be built west of the town of Blackburn, which has a large Muslim population and will cover about 40 football fields or 82 acres.
It will house 35,000 burial plots, more than 25,000 from London's Garden of Peace, which is currently the largest Muslim cemetery in Europe. It will also have 663 parking spaces and 'wide land'.
Zubair and Mohsin Issa recently made headlines after buying shares in Asda, Britain's largest supermarket.
The Charity Isa Foundation, which manages the cemetery's projects, said in a statement that "the need for Muslim burial plots in the north-west of England has become alarming.
"This proposal is in the public interest for the Muslim community and is of strategic importance to the Northwest Territories."
The Isa Foundation says the proposal is in the application stage and, if successful, will serve Muslim communities in the region for the next 50 to 100 years.
The Isa Foundation has promised that if the plans are approved and the cemetery is built, the profits from the services will be used to provide funeral services. No director or volunteer will benefit from the cemetery.
The Isa Foundation approved a شروع 6.9 million project to build a mosque in Blackburn earlier this year.
